Vecna Cares Sponsors 8th Annual Charitable 5K Road Race

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Vecna Cares Charitable Organization sponsored its 8th annual College Park Cares 5k (CPC5k) charitable road race to benefit community and global health. On a cloudy and cool Sunday morning, 235 runners laced up their sneakers to benefit the Vecna Cares Charitable Trust. Over 20 private and corporate sponsors contributed donations, and prizes.

This year’s race brought together runners ranged in age from 7 to 82, with the first place finisher, Justin Lui, clocking in at 17:41. The race took place on a USA Track and Field certified course along the banks of Lake Artemesia. The event included festivities for children, including facepainting and a moonbounce.

Runners were treated to fruit from Giant, bagels from Bagel Place and music from Tim’s Tunes. Though skies looked like rain, participants lucked out with a dry day for the 3.1 mile race route.

The College Park Cares 5k is organized through Vecna Cares, the qualified 501(c)(3) charitable arm of Vecna Technologies, Inc., whose goal is to promote healthy lifestyles and community involvement.

The over $15,000 in funds raised by runners and sponsors will benefit the Vecna Cares Charitable Trust’s ongoing efforts to improve medical technology for underserved populations in Africa.

Vecna Cares would like to thank our partner the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission for helping tomake the event a success.
