Vecna Research and Development |
| Vecna stays on the leading edge of technology as an engine of innovation through our strong research and development program. Robotics The Vecna Robotics program is making great strides in building a robot that is capable of rescuing humans who may be sick or injured from a wide variety of predicaments. Medical RFID Technology The National Institutes of Health has funded Vecna to research and develop unique applications of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags in a hospital setting. This research employs RFID technology to track the inadvertent spread of infection inside a hospital. Dynamic Patient Scheduling system Current commercial software systems for schedule and resource management do not perform well when they are subjected to the realities of frequently-changing environments and constant updates. Funded by the DoD, this research project involves developing a new computer system that can make such adjustments dynamically. The core technology for the system uses genetic algorithms, a highly effective artificial intelligence tool for rapid learning and problem solving. There is strong commercial potential for this research, since dynamic scheduling and resource allocation arealso asignificant problems in many areas outside health care. Please revisit this page in the near future for exciting new project announcements and new developments. |
