Problem: Difficult Access to Seasonal Flu Shots

Every year hundreds of people line up in health facilities to go through the process of receiving flu vaccination shots. This paper-based process involves multiple steps for registration, evaluation and administration with support staff to execute and document each step. The result is long lines, potential data corruption and a large staffing burden.

Solution: Mobile Walk Up–Clinic with Vecna Kiosks

The Veterans Administration decided to streamline this process with a Mobile Self-Service Platform. Vecna's self-service kiosks and automated workflows traveled throughout the state with minimal staff to inoculate hundreds of veterans through a walk-up style, fully automated flu clinic.

Problem: Field Medicine for Critical Needs Populations and Emergency Disasters

In response to disasters, triage centers need to be set up within 24-48 hours in non-ideal or unpredictable locations demanding a mobile, self-contained and rugged platform that can be deployed at a moment's notice. Responders need a robust, no-guess IT environment to support established triage procedures including acute and non-acute victim intake, registration, assessment, resource management, and transfer to safe zones. Similarly, protection of rural and under-served populations require practical, cost-effective solutions to limitations, facilities, basic infrastructure, nurses and physicians. Either way, providers must have access to patient information, including medical interventions at the point-of-care for patients remaining on-site for direct medical services and for patients transferred to other care locations.

The CliniPAK is "Pop-Up Clinic IT in a Box." CliniPAK's lean, mobile, yet comprehensive capabilities compensate for untrained medical workers, complement local resources and take full advantage of resources in larger communities and health affiliates. The full service package includes software, hardware and devices necessary for remote care and disaster response all in a weather proof case and all under 50 pounds. Embedded workflow processes guide skilled or unskilled health workers through primary care and specialized clinical protocols and includes full override for manual input capabilities. Integrated devices support text, numeric, video and audio capture of data. Data from each device is automatically entered into the electronic patient record minimizing transcription errors and making information immediately available to other providers and applications.

CliniPAK units can be used in standalone mode, linked through a LAN or integrated with other remote units and networks through the Vecna Web Portal. Through the portal, users can access reports on aggregated data for infectious disease surveillance, inventory and resource distribution, telemedicine, system alerts and continuing education and training.
