QC PathFinder is built to support today's busy infection preventionists (IPs) in surveillance and reporting in order to allow more time for intervention and education. Vecna understands the challenges of the job of IPs, and as a customer of QC PathFinder you’ll be given the best tools, training, and support you need to do your job better and more efficiently.
QC PathFinder® monitors live microbiology, pharmacy, admissions, and other data sources to detect potential infections and outbreaks. Users receive automated alerts when data suggests that a patient has an infection. Examples of alerts are HAIs (BSI, SSI, UTI), MDROs, RCDs (reportable and communicable diseases), drug-bug mismatch, drug-drug interaction, and more.

The methods used by QC PathFinder to detect possible HAIs have been checked against manual detection by the Veterans Affairs and found to have greater than 90% sensitivity and specificity.
QC PathFinder automatically gathers relevant data such as patient and provider information, lab results, pharmacy orders, and location history, organizes and collates data so that the user can conduct in–depth investigations.
QC PathFinder displays information in real–time so that IPs can take clinical actions quickly. QC PathFinder reduces the amount of time needed to complete and submit reports to national data collection agencies such as NHSN.
In addition to standard reports for infection control, QC PathFinder can generate pharmacy reports for antimicrobial stewardship including but not limited to:
Pharmacists can document and track intervention in the application as well as create reports on results of intervention. [Pharmacy Information]
IPs spend more than one-third of their time on manual surveillance, which consists of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. [Grota, P.G., “Electronic surveillance systems in infection prevention: Organizational support, program characteristics, and user satisfaction,” AJIC, Vol. 38, No. 7, pp. 509-513]. Because QC PathFinder® helps the IP identify infections in real-time through automated alerts, it significantly reduces the amount of time spent on manual surveillance.
